The MGM Grand opened in 1993 and cost $1 billion to build. With over 5,000 rooms, it was the largest hotel in the world at the time. The resort originally had an Oz theme which was later removed in renovations.

High-speed wireless internet access throughout the hotel, access to the expansive MGM Grand fitness center and pool complex, unlimited local and domestic long-distance phone calls, printing of airline boarding passes, and notary services at the concierge desk are all included in the $45 per night resort fee, plus tax.
The MGM Grand parking garage offers free self-parking. There is a $25 plus tax daily fee for valet parking, which gives visitors the ability to come and leave as needed without having to pay every time.
Guests must produce a credit or debit card and a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a passport or driver's license, at the front desk while checking in. They must also be at least 21 years old. Incidentals are not paid for with cash.
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all hotel rooms and suites at the resort. Nonetheless, there are specific sections of the casino, pubs, lounges, and nightclubs where smoking is allowed. Gaming rooms and nightclubs need visitors to be at least 21 years old.
According to the MGM Grand cancellation policy, a reservation must be canceled with 48 hours' notice to be fully refunded. Penalties or cancellation costs may be imposed with shorter notice. Certain situations, such as familial emergencies, may allow for an exception.
